THE MARINE & Allied Industries Cooperative Credit Union Ltd will be staging its 13th annual general meeting (AGM) on Thursday, May 11, at the Shipping Association of Jamaica's Sports Club, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The AGM promises to be an exciting event, with several prizes and surprises in store for members.
Marine & Allied is an employer-sponsored credit union that serves the interests of employees in the shipping, trucking and customs brokering industries. Formed in 1992, it has approximately 2,000 members with total assets of over $100 million.
Credit unions, unlike other financial institutions, are owned directly by the members, and all surpluses are distributed to the members. Annual general meetings provide a forum for members to participate in the operations of the credit union.
The board of directors and members of the credit and supervisory committees are selected from the general membership at the AGM, and serve in a voluntary capacity.
