ST. CATHERINE:

ST. CATHERINE CC are in command of their Supreme Ventures Super Cup Challenge Trophy semi-final match against Melbourne entering today's final day at Chedwin Park.

West Indies pacer Jermaine Lawson and the league's top wicket-taker, Bevon Brown, shared eight wickets, then Damion Bryce hit a half century to put St. Catherine, winners of the Supreme Ventures Super Cup in pole position.

Scores entering today's final day: Melbourne 178; St. Catherine 164-4.

MELBOURNE STRUGGLED

Batting first, Melbourne struggled from early as Lawson made early inroads. The controversial fast bowler got two wickets in his opening spell to leave Melbourne at 35-2.

He first trapped Damion Jacobs, the only double centurymaker this season, for seven, then bowled Donovan Pagon, zero.

The middle order of Yanick Elliott, 37, Omar Allison, 19, and Andre McCarthy, 27, put up some resistance, but Brown, who removed Carlton Baugh for four, dominated with 4-39.

Brown and his leg-spinning partner, Odean Brown (2-29) destroyed the middle. At the end, Lawson returned to wrap up the tail by trapping Sheldon Smith, nine, and bowled Leon Bent, one, to end with figures of 4-59.

Melbourne opener Damion Henry had earlier made 40.

At their turn at bat, St. Catherine lost top run-scorer Danza Hyatt, six, with only eight runs on the board. However, Dean Morgan, 31, and Bryce, 71 not out, put on 68 for the second wicket.

Soon after Morgan fell, Tamar Lambert, six, also was back in the pavilion.

Keith Hibbert, 38, and Bryce also put together a useful partnership before the former fell.

Wayne Morgan, eight, is the other not out batsman. Jacobs has so far taken 2-45.
