THE PARISH of St. Thomas now boasts two Kiwanis clubs; the first is the Kiwanis Club of St. Thomas and the second the new Kiwanis Club of Morant Bay. The latter had its charter ceremony on Sunday, March 5, at the Whispering Bamboo Cove in Retreat, St. Thomas, with all the fanfare that such events generate. The new club had two sponsoring clubs lending them some much needed encouragement.

"Morant Bay is an historic place," remarked Immediate Past President Trevor Ramikie of Liguanea Club, as he brought greetings.

"I now charge you with a famous quotation from John Paul II, 'At the end of our lives, we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made or how many great things we have done. We will be judged by the hungry we fed and naked we clothed'," said Immediate Past President Dollis Campbell Williams of West St. Andrew club.

The induction of members was done by local governor Gerthlyn Holman.

The new executive members are: Michael James - president; Everald Gladstone Roye - president-elect; Raymond Ronald Wilson - vice-president; Jody Raquel James - secretary and Lloyd L. Richardson - treasurer.

Present were Immediate Past Governor John Button and his wife Debbie from Canada. He presented the charter and banner certificates and the new building awards to recipients.

"I am elated to be a part of this club and to be formally chartered, I recognise that there is much to be done," said President Michael James in his reply.
