BEING 50 years old is one thing, but sharing that birthday with a sibling is even more fun.

Identical twins, Patrick and Perry Walker, celebrated their 50th birthday on Saturday, March 11. The brothers have done very well for themselves, as they own Tropicool, Tradewinds Investments, Prestige Printers and Supreme Bags. Been busy, haven't they?

"It's not quite 50/50, straight down the middle but close enough," quips Pat, when asked about who's the bigger boss. Both were attired in black suits with white dress shirts and identical glasses so it was hard to tell them apart.

In fact, there was a suggestion that they should wear name tags to help out those who weren't so adept at discerning them.

The event was held at the palatial residence of Les and Gloria McNeil in Red Hills. Master of ceremonies Maurice Henry even jokingly renamed the dwelling 'Buckingham Palace'.

SPIFFY 'SUNDAY BEST'

Business colleagues, fellow Kiwanians and, of course, many family members, flocked to the slightly chilly climes above the city to party.

You might have mistaken this for a wedding, judging by the neat and spiffy 'Sunday best' that some guests were decked out in. But this was indeed a swanky affair as guests munched on devilled eggs, smoked marlin and fruit cocktails.

A four-member band kept the early comers thoroughly entertained with a refreshing mix of selections. Sure, they had the old Jamaican songs, but showed their versatility in performing a few jazz pieces, a little reggae with Garnet Silk and then even a little soca.

The poolside was adorned with blue and silver ribbons to add to the already classy décor. The brothers were lauded for their work and were treated to a few items from family members as well. Then the tables and chairs, which before had served as the 'moonlight café', were moved to accommodate a dance floor.
