THE EDITOR, Sir:
LET ME be the first to offer my heartiest congratulations to Olivia 'Babsy' Grange on her decision to attend the funeral of Andrew 'Bunman' Hope. I must thank her because, for a time, I honestly believed that all politicians in our blessed island had taken the morally correct ground and decided that it was best to publicly disassociate themselves from persons who have been implicated in shady activities.
Due to the decision of Ms. Grange to attend Mr. Hope's funeral, she has reminded the persons who support her party, as well as all Jamaicans, that the intrinsic relationship between politicians and people of ill-will is alive and well. Thanks to her stance, we are reassured that the evils which are associated with someone who possesses a reputation similar to that of the deceased, Mr. Hope, do not deserve to be publicly decried.
So once again I thank you, Honourable Member of Parliament. I only wish that those who do not commend your aforesaid act of attending the funeral will not reap the fruit which you have so carefully nurtured.
I am, etc.,
