WHILE SOME consumers are earning between two and 3.33 per cent on U.S. dollar saving accounts, members of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) can now benefit from interest rates of between 4.25 per cent and six per cent for similar deposits.
The organisation recently unveiled its JN Foreign Currency High Yield Account, which gives higher market rates for U.S. and Canadian dollar, and sterling accounts.
Emile Spence, senior executive with responsibility for marketing, distribution and representative offices at JNBS, notes that this move is part of his organisation's thrust to reward the members who have been saving with them. "Our members want to know that in the long run, they are receiving best value for their hard-earned money. These interest rates are guaranteed," he pointed out.
This new account comes on the heels of another special offer which ended on January 31, where JN Members could earn up to 13 per cent on local currency savings accounts, and also enjoy the benefit of discounts from some JNBS subsidiary companies.
Spence noted that JNBS' members enjoy a number of value-added benefits, such as JN 'no-charge' cards. "Customers of other financial institutions pay between $8 and $10.25 for each point of sale transaction, while our members use their JN ATM cards free at any ATM." he stated.
