Orion Insurance goes to Montego Bay
published: Tuesday | February 21, 2006

WESTERN BUREAU:

ORION INSURANCE Brokers recently opened a Montego Bay branch, as part of its efforts to enhance service to its rapidly growing client-base.

"We see ourselves as the leading insurance brokers," Donald Evans, chief operating officer (COO) told The Gleaner on Friday. "We have large groups of policyholders such as teachers, members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the Jamaica Defence Force and the correctional services and we try to go where they are."

According to the chief operating officer, Montego Bay represents a great business opportunity as there is a large unfulfilled need for brokerage services in the city.

SPECIALISED SCHEMES

"We are here because we see a need for the service we have to offer and also we have specialised schemes that make our products attractive to various groups, such as churches and associations. Coming to Montego Bay was an important move because it means that we will be able to serve them better."

Mr. Evans said Orion, with its regional base in Kingston, has been registered since 1995 and provides brokerage services for health, general, life and employee insurance benefits.

"We are brokers for all general and life insurance companies. We also secure insurance for companies abroad such as Lloyds of London."

The Montego Bay branch, which is located on Union Street, has a staff complement of seven and will augment the company's branch network, taking it to a total of seven branches throughout the island.

As part of the company's Montego Bay reception, a mini-health fair was staged in association with Blue Cross of Jamaica, during which free blood pressure and other medical checks were conducted on patrons at the event.
