Policeman, civilians on robbery charge remanded

THE POLICEMAN and two civilians charged with the series of robberies of returning residents appeared in the Gun Court on Friday.

They have been remanded to return to court on March 31 when they will be tried.

Constable Horace Roberts, 37, Robert Hurd, 30, carpenter, and Richard Ewart, 30, are charged with 30 counts of robbery with aggravation.

The offences were allegedly committed between May 2004 and October 2005. Flying Squad detectives arrested the men on October 22 last year.

Arising from the robberies, 26-year-old Princess John, of Maiden Lane, downtown Kingston, and a 16-year-old girl, of Scotts Pass, Clarendon, have been charged with receiving stolen property.
