Teenager drowns in Hermitage Dam
published: Monday | February 13, 2006

JAMAICA DEFENCE Force (JDF) coastguard divers will today resume their search for Benton Barnes who is believed to have drowned in the Her-mitage Dam in St. Andrew.

Barnes, 19, reportedly went swimming in the dam Saturday afternoon and after he swam across several times, went under.

The coastguard conducted a search yesterday for nearly four hours but it was called off because of poor visibility and cold temperatures in the water.

According to the Constabulary Communication Network, Barnes was charged for illegal possession of a firearm last year and was scheduled to appear in court next month.
