CRIES FOR justice echoed through the small community of Godwin Park Road, Kingston, yesterday as residents accused the police of the cold blooded killing of 23-year-old Marcus Davis.
Davis was shot fatally during a joint police/military operation carried out in the area in the early morning.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), the information arm of the police force, the operation was carried out about 5:45 yesterday morning.
When members of the joint police/military team approached a house in the community, Davis reportedly ran out of the building with a firearm and fired at them. The fire was returned and Davis was killed.
RESIDENTS RELATE DIFFERENT TALE
But according to residents the lawmen entered the premises and, without identifying themselves, kicked open the door to the house that Davis and his aunt occupied. The residents said Davis attempted to flee but the police accosted him and carried him to another house in the same yard where he was shot and killed.
"Dem kill him in cold blood," a female resident told The Gleaner on the scene.
"We haffi go get some justice, the police killed my son innocently," said Carlton Davis, father of the deceased.
According to the police, a 9mm pistol with serial number erased was taken from the dead man. During the incident a member of the security team and a woman were also said to have been shot and injured.
