MULTICARE FOUNDATION, an organisation dedicated to youth development, has set out a wide-ranging programme for 2006. The Foundation will, among other things, provide assistance for 31 schools in east, west and central Kingston, and Greater Portmore.
Formed in 1993 MultiCare takes a holistic approach to youth development using sports and the arts with the aim of promoting peace, tolerance and understanding.
The visual arts programme will be holding workshops in all 31 schools with an exhibition scheduled for Friday April 7. Art programmes continue at the Bellevue Hospital and at the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities. In Olympic Gardens, 'Art on the Street' will resume on Saturday mornings.
The performing arts programme gets under way with the hosting of Dance Workshops in participating schools, a concert at the end of the school year to showcase the talents and achievements of the children. This will be held later in the year at the prestigious Institute of Jamaica.
The Sports Programme resumes with basketball clinics for students in all 31 schools. The 'Train The Trainer' basketball clinic for physical education teachers returns on Wednesday, April 15.
The Annual MultiCare Inter-Schools Competitions for basketball and girls football will be held at the Breezy Castle Centre April 5-6.
