THE FIRST conference of the Jamaican Diaspora in the United Kingdom is set for Saturday, April 1 in Birmingham. This conference aims to widen the participation and strengthen the impact of the Jamaican Diaspora in the U.K.
Plans for the conference were discussed on January 14 at a meeting of the U.K. Diaspora group, regional coordinators and interest group facilitators. The conference hopes to come up with a consensus of the major issues concerning Jamaicans in the U.K. to be raised at the
second Jamaica Diaspora Conference, set for June 15 and 16 in Kingston.
Among other issues to be discussed at the U.K. conference is identifying key issues affecting the Jamaican community in the U.K. and identifying areas of development which the diaspora can impact on in Jamaica.
