Double wins for Ruddock, Michelle

Indira Spence of Vere Technical wins the girls' Class One 100m hurdles at the Jamaica College development meet yesterday.

ST. JAGO'S Natasha Ruddock and Manchester's Leslie Michelle were the shining stars with double wins at yesterday's WATA/JC Development Track & Field Meet held at the school's Old Hope Road campus.

Ruddock, a World Youth Championships silver medallist, outclassed her rivals to win the girls 'Class Two 100m hurdles in 13.9 ahead of Alpha's Rosemarie Carty (14.1).

Also boasting the Pan American Junior Championships 100m hurdles silver medal, Ruddock also copped the 100m in 11.9 seconds, beating her teammate, Lotaya King (12.0), who ran in heat four.

Mitchell won the Class Three 80m hurdles in 12.0, beating Morant Bay's Tonique Sobah (12.1), and the 100m in 12.3.

In the girls' Class One 100m hurdles, Indira Spence of Vere (14.3) won the event ahead of Kimberley Laing of Immaculate (14.9).

World Junior bronze medallist Sherene Pinnock of Edwin Allen, who was third in the 100m hurdles, won the 400m hurdles in 56.8 over Holmwood's Jerine Bolt (58.5).

Theon O'Connor of Campion won the boys' Class Two 800m in 1:57.0.

Raymond Brown of Bridgeport won the boys' Class One shot put with a throw of 15.91m while Kenisha Throughsingh of Vere took the girls' event with 13.36m.

JC's Ramone Birch took the discus with 46.65m.

Birch's teammate Winston Barnes won the 100m for Class One boys' in 10.7 over Conray Wright of Wolmer's (10.9) while Kimberly Smith of Edwin Allen (12.0) beat Nicole Wilson of Vere (12.4) for the girls' title.

Carifta Games Under-17 sprint double champion Yohan Blake of St. Jago won the 400m for Class Two boys in 51.4.

Julian Reid of Wolmer's landed the boys' Class One long jump with a leap of 7.15m. St. Jago's Marsha Matthias leapt 1.66m for the girls' Class One high jump.

Kenroy Benjamin of Glengoffe High took the 5,000m in 17:04.7 while Manchester High's Notaya Goule won the girls 300m in 10:38.9.

Keiron Stewart of KC won the 110m hurdles for Class Two boys in 14.5.
