BAILEY
OLYMPIC GAMES relay gold medallist Aleen Bailey departs the island today for the United States to complete her studies.
"I am going to finish four more classes, two in sociology, one anthropology and one social work," Bailey said yesterday.
Bailey returned home after the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens to train with one of Jamaica's top sprint coaches, Glen Mills.
During that time, Bailey improved on her personal best from 11.07 to 11.04.
Bailey said she would have completed her studies already if it wasn't for a lack of cash.
"I have to save up the money to do it (pay for semester)," Bailey said.
She also explained why she didn't finish earlier.
"Something happened to the scholarship. I was on a scholarship and the school was supposed to pay my fee and they didn't and I got dropped from the school," she explained.
Going back to University of South Carolina, Bailey said she has 11 credits outstanding to complete her degree in sociology.
She is expected back home in May "to get ready for the Euro-pean circuit", she said.
