Jamaica is for all Jamaicans
published: Thursday | January 5, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE ENEMY within is the only true foe, and it seems as though people within the Jamaican society are hell-bent on seeing to it that Jamaica is destroyed. Criminals are literally taking over, putting fear in the hearts of everyone, from every nook and cranny of the island, whether immediately affected or not. Near anarchy is at hand and now the justice system and those entrusted with its administration, in particular the judges, are being attacked.

I followed the Kraal trial as much as I could, agree with the outcome and beg of the Chief Justice never to respond to his detractors on any point. No apologies necessary.

Despite its near failure/collapse, Jamaica continues to suffer from its class distinctions. Had it been any so-called 'lesser' person in society who was reprimanded by the judge, it would not even had made the news, but of course it was someone 'important'.

Wake up fellow Jamaicans, it was our foreparents' blood that was shed to give us this little piece of earth, and stop settling for less than is deserved. Jamaica belongs to all Jamaicans, not just to the privileged. Should we fail to change the present course, anyway, it will soon be enjoyed by anarchists only.

The few must be prepared to suffer for the good of the many. Do not keep the company of known criminals or you may have to be counted amongst the few. Gun violence by wicked men on the streets must be stopped at any cost. The security forces should be given a new commission to this end.

I am, etc.,

ASTON GEORGE
