THE THREE-MEMBER Board of Enquiry set up to examine the controversial Esso Standard Oils' pricing, has been granted a 30-day extension to submitting its recommendations to the Ministry of Labour.
Initially, the tribunal was expected to submit its recommendations at the end of December 2005.
The tribunal has heard submissions from the Jamaica Gasoline Retailers Association (JGRA) and the management of Esso Standard Oils.
But Jerry McDaniel, public relations manager in the Ministry of Labour, yesterday said there were still some outstanding issues to be discussed.
The board, which comprises chairman: Karl P. Wright, a representative of the JGRA and Esso Standard Oils met for the first time on December 1 when Labour Minister Horace Dalley urged them to be fair in carrying out their duties.
The establishment of the Board of Enquiry was part of a 10-point agreement between Esso and the JGRA, brokered by the labour minister, averting an islandwide shut down of gas stations last November.
Esso retailers and the JGRA are opposed to the current strategy where Esso dictates the retail prices for its products sold at some gas stations.
