THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM appalled at the state of our justice system. I can't believe that the Jamaican Government is satisfied with this kind of justice system, and that they really expect decent law-abiding citisens to vote for this type of system in the next general election.
The Government seems to be happy with this system, but I am not, and many Jamaicans who believe in justice are not happy. It is this type of system, compounded with an inadequate police force, and the increasing opportunity for young men to commit crime due to lack of meaningful employment and a failing educational system, that is putting out more dunce on the streets every year, than bright ones. These are the people whom Dr. Omar Davies refers to as irredeemable.
CRIME IS EVERYWHERE
Once upon a time it was said that crime only existed in West Kingston. It is now all over the country. We now have policemen and women being shot by their own and being beaten. How long before the abuse of human rights reaches prominent members of the media, corporate businessmen and women, and politicians and their families?
Mr. Prime Minister P.J. Patterson, your legacy is a disgrace. I am ashamed to live in a country being run by your uncaring and selfish leadership. You will one day answer to God for the way the country is being run by you. Remember Pharaoh?
I am, etc.,
