THE EDITOR, Sir:
IT IS somewhat offensive, if not rather rapacious, for some high-profile companies that provide service to the public to take unfair advantage of some customers, and even rip them off in no uncertain manner without any thought of good customer relationship. This is sometimes more noticeable when the customer is a female, or of humble origins.
A case in point is of a lady who took her car to a parts company to get an oil leak dealt with. After the repair had supposedly been done, and payment made, the lady discovered that the leak was still there. The car had to be returned at least five times and each time that it was returned, the leaking seemed to be even greater.
FURTHER PAYMENT WANTED
The company now wants a further payment for a job that is still not satisfactorily done, as the problem is still there. It seems totally unfair to pay for work which has not corrected the problem, and she has decided not to make any further payments to the company, as she will have to get the matter rectified elsewhere, at additional cost to her.
Companies that display such disregard for their customer's satisfactions should be censored by the Fair Trading Commission, which I think ought to be a part of their portfolio.
I am, etc.,
