Taxi man killed in accident
published: Wednesday | November 23, 2005

WESTERN BUREAU:

A TAXI operator was killed and 19 others injured after a minibus slammed into a Toyota Corolla motor car along the Spring Gardens main road in St. James, Jamaica on Monday.

Police have identified the dead man as Baldwin Doman, of Belmont in St. James, who plied the Hopewell to Montego Bay route.

The injured were treated at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.

The accident, which occurred about 8:20 a.m., resulted in a pile-up of traffic along the western corridor of Montego Bay. Reports are that Doman was driving towards Montego Bay when, upon reaching the vicinity of the Chalet Caribe Hotel, a Toyota Hiace bus travelling in the opposite direction overtook a line of vehicles and collided with his motor car.

Doman received multiple injuries and died on arrival at hospital.
