11-y-o to continue testimony Monday
published: Saturday | November 19, 2005

PROSECUTOR TERRENCE Williams said on Thursday that it is expected that the girl will continue her testimony when the trial resumes on Monday.

Shanice was first called to testify last week, but when she was taken to court she would not go into the witness box.

It is being alleged that the policemen went to Kraal in search of Bashington Douglas otherwise called 'Chen Chen' and 'Shortman'. The Crown is alleging that when the civilians were shot, the policemen were not acting in self defence.

On Thursday Lloyd Christie who was formerly employed to the Police Public Complaints Authority, testified that on May 16, 2003 and June 10, 2003 he went to Kraal and found a total of ten 5.56 spent shells.

He said on May 16, 2003 he found two spent shells on the floor under two beds in the house and four spent shells in the yard. On June 10, 2003 when he went back to Kraal to gather other evidence he found four spent shells in the yard to the back of the house. He took the spent shells to the Government Forensic Laboratory and handed them over.

The witness said he first went to Kraal on May 9, 2003 and when he went there he saw more than 100 persons, some on the premises and others on the roadway. He said police personnel were also at the premises. He said he and Vivian Richards another investigator had gone to Kraal in search of witnesses to the alleged shooting.

Paul Byfield, a videographer with CVM Television said he went to Kraal about 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on May 7, 2003 and videotaped the crime scene. He said when he went there he saw policemen in the house and one of them was taking photographs. An edited version of the tape was tendered in evidence.

Sgt. Andrew Edwards attached to Headquarters Stores at Elletson Road, Kingston tendered in evidence a receipt book to show that on October 26, 2000 he issued a .45 pistol to SSP Adams.
