THE EDITOR, Sir:I THINK that all law-abiding Jamaicans were extremely happy that our police force was able to take charge of the shipment of guns from the information they secured from the investigation of Donovan 'Bulbie' Bennett.
However, I have grave misgivings as to why this shipment was not picked up by the scanner and I now wonder if it was indeed scanned and if it was not scanned why? It is very important for our police force to get rid of any employee within the Customs system who are not carrying out duties assigned to them. There should be a clean sweep of any such employees.
I am also hoping that our police force will have started checking on where in the United States this shipment came from and to whom it was consigned.
STOP FUNDING GUNS
I know that the police have to withhold certain information until they can prove in a court of law, but I think all law-abiding citizens need to know that the police are making sure that the person or persons who are supplying the funds for the purchase of these guns are found and arrested. It is most important that we stop the funding of guns for ganja etc. Until we get all the persons involved in these criminal acts, we continue to be at peril.
I am, etc.,
