Strategise - Ways to find extra cash
published: Sunday | November 13, 2005

Dehring Bunting & Golding

THERE ARE ways to find extra cash in your everyday spending if you take the time to assess carefully what you're spending on. You can either cut back on certain things or give some up totally. Here are a few options to consider.

Cutting back on your regular expenses

If you tend to talk on your cellular phone for long periods, several times throughout the day, reconsider the way you use it. This can become extremely expensive, no one likes to receive a shocking bill at the end of the month, especially one they didn't budget for.

Cut down on the time spent talking about unimportant things on your cellular phone, reduce these lengthy talks by making your cellular phone be for discussions that need to be held immediately, which cannot wait until you've reached a land line. If you find it more cost effective for you to get a pre-paid phone to maintain your budget boundaries, get your phone connected in that way.

Cutting back on your regular expenses can also be applied to your everyday purchases of fast food, and dining out at restaurants instead of cooking a meal at home. These little things can definitely provide you with extra cash you would have otherwise spent.

THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU BORROW

Borrowing can have both an extremely negative or positive effect on your financial future. For such a serious venture, take the time and give it some serious thought. Before you decide to borrow, identify whether or not it is for a need, rather than a want. Be sure about how you plan to repay the debt and in what time span you plan to do so.

After you've decided to borrow, be sure that you do not miss your payment deadlines when repaying the loan, because if there's interest added on late payments, you'll be throwing away money you could otherwise save. The extra cash you waste paying interest could be better spent otherwise.

There are many ways you can find extra cash, keeping tabs on how much you spend, simply adjust your spending habits; thinking wisely before purchasing each item and taking bargains where possible. Accumulate that extra cash and invest it wisely.
