Flankers detainees still in police custody
published: Friday | November 11, 2005

WESTERN BUREAU:

THREE OF the 12 men detained in a joint security raid in Flankers, St. James, two weeks ago remained in police custody on Wednesday.

Detective Sergeant Paul Bernard of the Montego Bay Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) said the men were awaiting identification parades for crimes, including shootings, committed in the area.

Following the October 29 operation, Superintendent Warren Clarke, commanding officer for the St. James Police Division, said the raid had "disrupted organised gang activities in Montego Bay".

He said the detainees included key gang members, who would be held for further investigation and ID parades.

Over the past week, nine of the detainees were processed and released from custody.
