CXC and the sufferer
published: Friday | November 11, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WHAT CAN be the justification for the Caribbean Examinations Council to charge two separate entry fees for one single candidate sitting CSEC (grade 11) and CAPE (grades 12 and 13) in a year (sitting)?

In this age, why is it necessary to have two separate registration processes for one examining body and thus charge two fees? Secondly, why are students being charged approximately $2,500 for an amendment to any bio-data? In other words, if a simple charge is required after an entry is submitted, it costs $2,500 per change.

This is unreasonable and unacceptable. The CXC is now a monopoly and the consumer is again suffering

I am, etc.,
