DaCosta re-elected as commerce president
published: Wednesday | September 28, 2005

DACOSTA

NOEL DACOSTA has been re-elected President of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) for a further one-year term at the helm of the hemisphere's oldest business association. He was re-elected at the association's annual general meeting yesterday. Other members of the new executive comprise Mark Myers (1st vice-president); Ed Khoury (2nd vice-president); Francis Kennedy (3rd vice-president) and Milton Samuda (4th vice-president).

Addressing the membership of the JCC after assuming office, Mr. daCosta noted that his administration would continue implementing the strategic plan that had been developed in the previous year. Priorities would include focusing on crime management, the implementation of the Partnership for Progress, providing an enhanced menu of services to members, and strengthening linkages with domestic, regional and international bodies, among others. He noted that the association is shortly to move into new offices.

SUCCESSES EXPERIENCED

He pointed to successes experienced over the past year with respect to the JCC's USAID-assisted Briefing Room & Legs & Regs projects, as well as the invaluable work done on behalf of young people in the inner city, port facility users and other activities spearheaded by JCC committees. The incoming executive, he promised, will work assiduously to effectively represent the interests of its membership.
