
HALL
DR. MARSHALL Hall, group managing director of The Jamaica Producers Group Ltd. has been selected as the Private Sector Hall of Fame awardee for 2004.
President of the PSOJ, Mrs. Beverley Lopez, said Dr. Hall has been instrumental in the resuscitation and the development of the agricultural sector in Jamaica. Mrs. Lopez added that he is an individual who has also shown foresight in creating linkages with international companies to further the success of his company, which has shown phenomenal growth during his stewardship.
THE MAN
Dr. Hall has been group managing director of the Jamaica Producers Group Ltd. since 1979 and is currently Chairman of the Caribbean Banana Exporters Association. Born in 1934, he was educated at Kingston College, Columbia University and the University of Wisconsin. He has served as Consultant to the Government of Jamaica, and for several organisations in the USA and Jamaica.
He has contributed to the public sector, serving as a Member of the Public Utilities Commission, as Chairman and Chief Executive, Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd., Chairman, Jamaica Public Service Company 1979-81, Chairman, National Development Bank and Jamaica Development Bank.
THE HALL OF FAME
The PSOJ Hall of Fame is designed to honour Jamaican businessmen who have made significant contributions to the development of the private sector and our country. The nominees should have served in Jamaica's private sector for at least twenty-five years and should also have in-depth knowledge of and commitment to his or her field and be of sound character and unquestionable integrity. High ethical standards should be the trade mark of his or her business deals and practices. In addition, the nominees' companies must be successful with above average growth.
Dr. Marshall Hall will be honoured at the PSOJ's annual Hall of Fame Banquet, to be held at the Hilton Kingston Hotel on October 25. Dr. Hall is the thirteenth person to be inducted into the PSOJ Hall of Fame and follows that of Douglas Orane, CD, chief executive officer, Grace-Kennedy Ltd., in 2004.
