Observer gets chief executive
published: Wednesday | September 21, 2005

KHOURY

GORDON 'BUTCH' Stewart, the chairman of the Jamaica Observer, yesterday announced a new management structure at the 12 year old newspaper which will take effect on Monday.

Under the new structure, senior ATL Group executive Edward Khoury, will assume the role of chief executive officer and will have overall responsibility for the management of the company. Current managing director Mark Pritchett will be responsible for marketing, sales and product development. He will also offer marketing support to other companies in the ATL group.

A civil engineer by profession, Mr. Khoury joined the ATL Group as managing director of CARIBRAKE in 1994. He has been the managing director of the Group's flagship company ATL since 1997 and is credited with bolstering its retail presence in the market. A former director of the Jamaica Manufacturers' Association, Mr. Khoury, a Trinidadian, is the second vice president of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce.

"With the targeted expertise of these two senior executives in the new management structure, the Jamaica Observer is getting ready to further shake things up in the local newspaper industry," Mr. Stewart said.
