THE JAMAICA Public Service Company came under fire from both People's National Party (PNP) and Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillors at Thursday's monthly meeting of the St. Ann Parish Council.
The councillors charged that the JPS was not providing a good service in the parish, especially in relation to street lights. Councillor for the Borobridge division, the PNP's Winston Brown, reported that there were street lights in Alexandria that have not been repaired for over a year, despite claims by the company that it has been repairing street lights throughout the parish.
SIMILAR EXPERIENCES
Councillor for the St. Ann's Bay division, the JLP's Dalas Dickinson said he has had similar experiences in his division while Councillor for the Bensonton division, the PNP's Lydia Richards said the situation is even worse in her division.
Mrs. Richards said that in addition to poor maintenance of street lights, there are daily power outages at least two times in the area.
Mayor of St. Ann's Bay, Delroy Giscombe, in response to the comments, said the council has been getting numerous complaints against the JPS from residents in the parish and that several letters sent to the company have failed to get a response.
