MINOTT
IT'S NOW official!
Dr. Dennis Minott, the former Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) East Portland caretaker, now supports the People's National Party (PNP).
Dressed in his red T-shirt with the portrait of outgoing PNP president P.J. Patterson, Dr. Minott, who attended yesterday's public session of the PNP's 67th annual conference, said he was there to salute Mr. Patterson's contributions to Jamaica.
"I am here to see the exit of an outstanding leader," he told The Gleaner.
He said he had not yet applied to become a PNP member but that he intended to do so soon. Earlier this year, the JLP's Central Executive voted to boot Dr. Minott for bringing the party into disrepute.
His ejection from the party arose from his letter to Political Ombudsman Bishop Herro Blair, about alleged instances of vote-buying at the JLP's 2003 annual conference.
Bishop Blair, however, said he could not investigate the accusations because he was not legally obligated to do so.
