LUVS, ITS been a very busy season for the house Leo, as lions and lionesses everywhere coming of age under this fire sign, celebrated with the gusto and panache mere onlookers associate with such a hot zodiacal sign. And me daahlings, parties there were plenty, as the fabulous all went to town, in celebrating the much heralded sign.

Now, traditionally the summer season here, is very much lukewarm in nature, as it is at this time of the year, that the fabulous and the chic, pack their Louis Vuittons and other brand name luggage, and head for continental Europe, for their annual sojourn.

This summer, however, it seems that Europe was an aside, as fab-society was very much in residence here in Jamaica, and consequentially, there were more parties this season than usual.

DUAL-THEMED PARTIES

And, when you think of it, a summer chockfull of fabulous parties was not the only unusual feature of this here season either. Another notable feature was that many of the parties hosted over the period were dual-themed as most were birthday celebrations and house-warming events combined. These affairs made for some fabulous outings!

Well sweet-things, another such birthday/housewarming party was hosted last Saturday evening by the absolutely fabulous couple Alex and Cheryl Hill, both being Leos, celebrated birthdays exactly a week apart, and with the couple changing homes, they decided on using the occasion for a dual celebration!

And dears, this is exactly how it should have been as fabulous as this couple is, and as beautiful as their new home is, no other celebration would have been appropriate.

Now, Alex Hill, is the newly appointed VP sales and marketing for the technologically advanced MiPhone Cellular Network, Jamaica's third largest cellular service provider, while his wife Cheryl Hill, is a dish of a fabulous lass, whose expertise is designing computer software.

TEXAN NATIVES

Both Texans, they arrived here in Kingston, just over a year and a half ago, and since then, have been busy making Jamaica their home, as they actively go about immersing themselves in an understanding of things Jamaican, as he busies himself with challenging the dominance of the other two cellular service providers, in the marketplace. And dears, challenging the status quo MiPhone will be as the company is all set to roll out some fancy features that will be grabbing the attention of this here gadget-conscious society.

Luvs, we are talking more than just Internet access here, that too, but will include real time international television access, fabulous group rates and generally new and improved service.

Anyway, last Saturday evening was not about work, as it was all about the celebration of life, friends, and the bounties life offers.

And so it was all about the very upscale community of Riva Ridge, over there in St. Andrew as the Hills threw open the doors to their fabulously designed residence to welcome friends, colleagues and a number of associates in joining them in the dual celebration.

Well, my dears, it was a fine night for a party, and a fine party it was!

Now dears, those of you who know the Riva Ridge community, know that this upper St. Andrew upscale neighbourhood was designed for those with an appreciation for elegant living and an even greater appreciation for a sense of space, privacy and security without necessarily feeling boxed in.

FABULOUS RESIDENCE

Pumpkins the residence is one of those fabulous Riva Ridge homes - a marvellously laid multi-level property, that begins at street level and meanders down to a basement which opens on to a garden, and then some! There is a charming 'little' courtyard of a garden fenced in by neighbouring properties, without being in your space or face, and thus making for some beautiful open spaces!

Dears, the affair began sometime around 7:00 p.m. and guests started arriving shortly after the hour and continued doing so, way into the night. And little wonder here, as it being a Saturday night, those coming out to break bread and make merry, stayed way into the night.

Now, this was not one of your "grab something and wave" parties, (as it was not that kind of a party, or that kind of neighbourhood); it was a rather charming outing, made more so by those in attendance, and we are talking fabulous society here, with guests being content with sharing each other's company and simply lyming the night away. And with libations flowing, and a buffet station offering some simply delicious finger-food, guests simply did the rounds in conversational mode, as they wiled the night away. A night made that much more fab, as some fab techno tunes, pop arias and new age music emanating from the family entertainment system, feeding the garden speakers, adding just the right sense of elan and laid back elegance to the birthday and housewarming celebrations.

FABULOUS GUESTS

Among the shortlist of friends spotted, celebrating with the Hills, were: Patrick Terrelonge; John and Sue Rosen; Stephen and Wendy Facey; Richard and Paula Jackson; the tres elegant Audrey Marks-Dunstan; attorney Harold Brady; Paul and Barbara Khouri; and their daughters, the oh so lovely Shanay Sinclair and her equally lovely sister Vanessa Khouri; businessman Bindley Sangster; Dr. Lorna Simmonds, John Lockerbie, COO of World Cup Cricket and his fiancée, the gorgeous Rebecca Stauter; the charming Allison Peart; architect and owner of the Red Bones Café, over there on Braemar Avenue, in New Kingston, Evon Williams; that dish of exaggerated fabulousness Betty Delfosse-Ingleton, of the fabulous and highly acclaimed Velisa's Restaurant over there on Devon Road; celebrated photographer Brian Rosen; Janet Farrow of the Jamaica Redevelopment Foundation; Businessman Eddie DePass and his Russian companion; Peta-Gaye McConnell; Montego Bay businessman Lachu Ramchandani; the charming Candy DePass; Michael Hall and his gracious wife, Colleen Hall; David Kerr; Chris and Desiree Tetley; Chris Levy; Roland and Clover Moore; and the fabulous Serge and Jolly Mengat; plus a number of others

And dears, it was one charming outing!
