TICHELLE AND Dennis McIndoe will have no problem in remembering their son's birthday. This happy couple became parents to their first son on Thursday July 7, the same day that Hurricane Dennis came. Naturally his name would be - you guessed - Dennis.

Beaming Dennis McIndoe, a supervisor at the Canco factory in Seaforth in St. Thomas, sat in his office and gave Outlook his story.

On the day of the hurricane, Dennis says, "I received a telephone call from my church sister, Peggy Forsythe, that it would be best to take my wife (who was was in an advanced state of pregnancy) to the hospital just in case there was heavy rainfall and we were cut off from the hospital.

"I though that this was a sound piece of advice so I acted. Immediately, I packed some clothing for our daughter, Daehnell and sent her to stay with her grandmother within the same area of Seaforth. My wife's bag was already packed, so I called the taxi that we had made prior arrangements with.

Admitted

"We reached the Princess Margaret Hospital about 9:00 a.m., though my wife was not feeling any pain. Her due date had passed, so she was admitted.

"When I called later, I learnt she had a boy at 1.00 p.m., the same time Hurricane Dennis passed, so I named him Dennis Jr.

"I always wanted a boy, so when I heard the news, it was a moment of rejoicing," Dennis McIndoe said.

Tichell seemed happy, endorsing what Dennis Sr. had said. She added: "He was the only baby born at Princess Margaret on that day. He weighed eight pounds."

She reflected, then stated that their first daughter Daehnell was born on October 5, 2002 when the wall at the Seaforth bridge collapsed.

We all laughed.

The unspoken question was: "Will these children have special events in their lives?"
