Ja trio shine in Greece

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS silver medallist Christopher Williams along with Sanjay Ayre and Novelene Williams were Jamaican winners at yesterday's Thessaloniki 2005, an IAAF Grand Prix II Meeting in Greece.

Williams, a second place finisher at June's National Championships, won yesterday's race in the photo finish room in a time of 20.51 seconds, the same as compatriot Omar Brown (20.51).

Nigeria's Uchenna Emedolu was third in 20.55.

In the men's 400m, Ayre, who finished fourth at the national trials, won his event in 45.30. He defeated Zimbabwe's Talkmore Nyongani Young (45.33) and American Jamel Ashley (45.50).

Meanwhile, national championships fourth place finisher Williams won her race in 51.33 ahead of Poland's Monika Bejnar (52.71) and Maria Pachatouridou of Greece (54.49).

Aneita Denton (2:02.57) was eighth in the women's 800m. Mihaela Stancescu-Neacsu of Romania (1:59.78) won the event.
