Chris Lawson with his new gear from Wilson. - CONTRIBUTEDSIXTEEN-YEAR-old junior tennis player Christopher Lawson was recently provided with gear by international sporting equipment company, Wilson.
The sponsorship represents Lawson's second year on Wilson's junior programme.
Apart from receiving tennis shoes and a super six tour bag, Lawson will serve off the busy spring and summer season with a pair of the hottest tennis racquets on the market, the high technology NCODE N6 ONE 95.
Wilson NCODE racquets are used by some of the world's leading tennis players including Serena and Venus Williams and current men's world No. 1, Roger Federer.
LAWSON PLEASED
Lawson, who recently completed a two-week training camp under the guidance of national tennis director Douglas Burke was happy to be a part of Wilson's club, once again.
"This is a great honour, I
am extremely proud that Wilson
has chosen me to compete in tournaments using their equipment," a Tennis Jamaica release quoted Lawson as saying.
"This sponsorship will motivate me to work even harder at my tennis so that I can repay the faith that Wilson has again shown in me."
Angel Rodriguez, regional director at Amer Sports Latin America and the Caribbean, the parent company of Wilson, has been keenly monitoring the progress of Lawson and is pleased with his development.
IMPRESSIVE DEVELOPMENT
"It is very impressive the way Chris has been developing as a tennis player. We are more than happy to sponsor a young player like him," the release continued.
Michelle de la Parra, marketing manager at Amer Sports, also expressed her pleasure with Lawson's progress and sponsorship renewal.
"It is a pleasure for Wilson to sponsor tennis players so dedicated and with a great future because they are a good example for other guys, Wilson is always behind the great players," she said.
So far this season, Lawson finished second in April's Cable & Wireless school's tennis competi-tion and wrapped up his month with a win over Dwayne Alexander (the tournament's No. 2 seed) in an exciting Guardian Life Junior Under-18 final.
