MANDEVILLE, Manchester:
DEFENDING WILCO Headley Cup champions Holmwood Technical bowled themselves into a position where they could easily challenge for first innings honours after limiting STETHS 111-9 on the first day of their final at Kirkvine yesterday.
Rain predictably affected the day's play completely washing out play after tea. STETHS batsmen faced 59 overs but the damage had been done from the first hour of play when STETHS lost their first two batsmen with only 43 runs on the board.
Zenniffe Fowler (14) the season's top scorer fell cheaply, as did Nikoy Samuels (14) and they had been expected to shoulder the bulk of the STETHS' batting.
Andre McCartney was the main destroyer with six for 22 off 18 overs.
Romaine Powell, batting at number five, topscored with 24, the next best score of 17 coming from Ishmael Parchment.
