Support 'Mother in Crisis' group
published: Wednesday | April 20, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE ARTICLE 'Moms take charge' which appeared in The Sunday Gleaner on April 17, 2005, is about the best organisation to help reduce the murder rate. Sons and spouses trust their mothers more than they trust anyone else. Therefore, mothers should know about the illegal guns that their sons and spouses possess.

'Moms take charge' is the best grass roots approach to fight this epidemic, the murder rate. Mothers are the ones who feel the pain. They are hurting in every way. They feel the pain during conception and delivery of their sons. They feel the pain when their sons and spouses are murdered, whether innocent or guilty. They are the ones who attend the funerals. They live with the pain forever. Many do not get grief counselling. Now is the time for Jamaicans, home and abroad, to give the organisation all the support they can.

They are going to need financial support as well as moral support to make this organisation a success. This organisation needs to spread out all across Jamaica with computers for its members to share information across the country; and training to use the computers.

Most of all, the organisation needs to stay clear of the involvement of the elected officials from both the People's National Party and the Jamaica Labour Party. The contact email address is
motherincrisi@yahoo.com.

Well, moms, take charge; fight this epidemic, the murder rate. You have to be impartial. You have a mission. You are at war. There will be many critics, but you can win the war. So, stay the course.

I am imploring my fellow Jamaicans overseas to stand behind this organisation to save our country.

I am, etc.,
