WEBSITES OF THE WEEK
www.tamitunes.com is the official website of Tami Chin, one of dancehall music's rising stars. A couple sections are still under construction, but fans can still view her online diary, music videos and photos, as well as download wallpapers.
www.webopedia.com offers a plain and simple explanation or definition of just about every technology-related term in existence. Through this website, even the most tech-challenged amongst us can sound really Tech-Smart.
http://www.del.icio.us is a really cool website bookmark tool that allows you to share your collection of bookmarks with others (social networking at another level). The best feature is that you can search by word or phrase within your bookmarks; quite handy when you can't remember the exact address of a particular site.
IPOD CRAZY
What is an iPod? If you haven't heard the word 'IPOD' before, you've probably been locked away in a dark, disconnected room for the past year or two. An iPod is a small portable music player, and if you remember either the 'Walkman' of the 1980s or the 'Discman' of the 90s, it's much easier to understand what it does. The iPod represents the next-generation model of portable music, but with one major advantage over its predecessors - storage space. While the Walkman & Discman were limited to an hour or two of playing time (cassette and CD respectively), there are several types of iPods, some of which are capable of storing thousands of songs.
So how do you get music unto the iPod? You can connect it to your computer (Mac or Windows operating systems), then transfer songs between the two devices. The iPod's popularity is said to be at an all-time high, as its manufacturer, Apple Computer Inc., recently announced that it had sold over five million of these devices for the first three months of 2005 alone. Currently, depending on the model you want to buy, iPod prices range between US$100 US$350. Learn more about the iPod http://www.apple.com/ipod/
DID YOU KNOW?
The U.S. President, George W. Bush, has an iPod of his own! According to a recent CNN news report, his daughters gave it to him last year and it has just around 250 songs, most of which are Country music. It has been nicknamed 'Ipod One' and he uses it mainly while bicycling on his ranch in Texas. It would be interesting to find out if Prime Minister Patterson is on this technological wave as well, with an iPod of his own.
