O. BROWN

SPINNERS Odean and Bevon Brown shared all ten wickets as St. Catherine defeated Kingston by five wickets in the Supreme Ventures Super Cup Series at Emmet Park yesterday.

Both players completed good all-round performances, but it was Odean's second innings bowling performance of 7-71 (10 wickets in the match) and 57 with the bat on Saturday's opening day, which was more impressive.

Odean, who played five matches for Jamaica and took eight wickets in this year's Carib Beer regional first class tournament, won $20,000 for his 10-wicket haul.

Bevon took 3-54 in the second innings.

Resuming yesterday's final day on 163 for eight, St. Catherine, added 48 for the remaining two wickets, thanks to Jermaine Lawson's knock of 34.

Duran White, who had four wickets overnight, ended with 5-50 for another of Supreme Ventures five-wicket haul cash prize ($10,000).

Final scores: Kingston 156 and 230; St. Catherine 211 and 176 for five. Kingston had a better second innings with Delroy Taylor, 69 and Duran White, 45, getting solid knocks.

Set 176 to win, St. Catherine had little or no trouble in racing to their victory target for the loss of five wickets. Bevon Brown led the way with 51.

He received good support from Wayne Morgan, 38, and Dean Morgan, 30, as St. Catherine won with 2.5 overs to spare. Fast bowler Audley Sanson took three for 65.

Lawson, who bowled with a lot of pace, had earlier taken 2-36 in the first innings.

At Kirkvine, only one innings was possible because of rain. Resuming on 207 for six, Melbourne with the help of 25 penalty runs, declared on 253 for eight.

Ray Stewart, 73, and Jason Nelson, 42, who resumed Melbourne's innings, carried on to 92 and 50 respectively. Uriel Samuels took three for 36.

At Port Esquivel, West Indies pacer Darren Powell bowled Kensington to first innings points over St. Catherine Parish.

Powell took 6-32 as St. Catherine parish chasing 269 for first innings, were bowled out for 171 with Colin Buchanan making 32. Peter Colquhoun supported Powell with 3-22.

Final scores: Kensington 268 and 27 for three; St. Catherine 171.

Rajiv Chatrie, who took 5-60 in Kensington's first innings, took all three wickets for 22 runs in the second, this gave him a match haul of 8-82.

At Up Park Camp Chris Gayle's five for 90 was not enough to prevent JDF from taking first innings at the expense of Lucas.

Replying to Lucas' 277, JDF made 323.

Mark Grey, 78, Omar Ellington, 51 not out, Mel Wint, 49, and Howard Copeland, 39, all chipped in with useful scores.

At Gary's Inn, rain prevented any play on yesterday's final day. St. Elizabeth made 107 for seven on a rain-interrupted opening day.
