Marcia Forbes for int'l conference
published: Monday | April 18, 2005

MEDIA CONSULTANT, Marcia Forbes, has been invited by the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) and the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA) to make presentations at their respective upcoming international conferences over the next few weeks.

Mrs. Forbes said the first conference will be the Canada and Caribbean Regional Conference, titled 'Broadcasting and Health', to be hosted by the CBA in Barbados from April 28-30.

Her presentation will focus on 'New Trends in TV Marketing - Health Implications'.

"The conference will give me the opportunity to impart my knowledge in the areas of global marketing communication and advertising - the area in which I have a master's degree - as well as pull on my advanced nursing background, " she said.

WORLDWIDE MEMBERSHIP

The CBA has membership of 100 members in over 50 countries, comprising publicly owned national public service broadcasting organisations which are responsible for the planning, production and presentation of broadcast programmes in the Commonwealth countries, as well as privately owned entities with a commitment to public service broadcasting.

At the second conference, Mrs. Forbes will present findings from a 2004 European Union Commissioned research project she completed under supervision from the Caribbean Community, the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication and University of the West Indies HARP, titled 'Do Music Videos Influence the Sexual Behaviour of Jamaican Adolescents?' This conference hosted by the Caribbean Studies Association (CSA) will be held in the Dominican Republic from May 30-June 4.

A number of other well-known Jamaicans are also scheduled to make presentations at the CSA conference, including Dr. Peter Weller, Dr. Ian Boxill and Dr. Thorburn-Chin.
