Digicel targets corporate clients
published: Monday | April 18, 2005

DIGICEL HAS unveiled a plan to woo corporate customers with a newly-branded platform of wireless communication solutions. Titled 'Digicorp', this new thrust represents Digicel's strategy to respond to the needs of business customers in search of a variety of services to keep them connected wherever they are in the world.

"Digicorp is a unique opportunity for us to bring together several services we currently offer on a single platform. Corporate customers can expect considerable technical enhancements and responsive clients service," said Chris Hayman, head of business services.

Both post- and pre-paid corporate customers can now access a suite of services, including Closed User Groups; Mobile Web; International Roaming; Web Text, which allows Digicel customers to send text messages to other Digicel customers; Faxmail, where fax can be received on mobile phones which can also be forwarded to a fax machine; as well as Digicel's signature per-second billing. Services exclusive to post-paid customers include Peak and Off-Peak rates; Roll-Over Minutes; Wireless Email and Dropped Call Compensation.

This portfolio of business solutions will allow Digicorp clients a wider scope of flexibility and improve operating efficiencies. "Our clients will have unmatched capabilities to allow them to work in ways that were never before possible.

The truth is that the competitive environment requires that we have more information available to us at all times. Not being in office and not having access is just not good enough anymore," said Winston Harrison, corporate sales manager.

With operations in seven territories, Digicel is the fastest growing wireless carrier in the Caribbean, largely propelled by a pre-paid strategy for the consumer market. The rally towards corporate customers reflects the desire to replicate that impact in the corporate market.

Digicorp has launched an innovative marketing campaign featuring local business icons Wayne Chen, CEO of SuperPlus Food Stores; Patrick Casserly, CEO of E-Services; Thalia Lyn, CEO of Island Grill; and Ian Forbes, managing director of Sherwin Williams (W.I) Limited.

Safiya Burton, marketing manager of GK Funds, who represents the youthful side of business excellence in Jamaica today, is among the group. "The proposition we are making to our clients is that success breeds success," said Mr. Harrison.

Digicel is the first Pan Caribbean mobile telecommunications provider to offer GSM technology, which is expected to be the dominant infrastructure over time. The company's customer base grew by 33 per cent in 2004.
