Ramgeet in front group at Mountaineer Park
published: Friday | January 28, 2005

RAMGEET

CHESTER, West Virginia, CMC:

JAMAICAN RIDER Andrew Ramgeet is among the front group in the Mountaineer Park jockeys' standings.

Up to Tuesday, Ramgeet shared the early lead in the jockeys standings - on three wins - with four other riders, Ossie Pereira of Trinidad and Tobago, Benjamin Marcial, Scott Spieth, and Chad Murphy.

Pereira scored one victory on Tuesday afternoon to join the group. He won the seventh race aboard the highly fancied four-year-old gelding Triple Shot.

Ramgeet was aboard the 19-1 chance All for Love in the event, placing sixth.

There was another Caribbean winner on the card when Jamaican jockey Clive Beech partnered sixth race winner Catch Bulletts to a 1-1/4 length win at long odds of 21-1.

Triple Shot, trained by Michael Pappada, raced in second spot for most of the six-furlong sprint as the 7-5 favourite Go Lionel Go led the field.

Triple Shot collared the favourite in the upper-stretch and edged clear near the finish under a strong ride from Pereira to win in one minute 09.20 seconds.

Pereira finished second in the last Mountaineer Park season with over 50 winners.
