Senate honours Seaga today
published: Friday | January 28, 2005

SEAGA

THE SENATE will today pay tribute to former Opposition Leader Edward Seaga who demitted office on January 19.

Mr. Seaga was in 1959 appointed to the Senate, then called to the Legislative Council, at the age of 29. He was at the time the youngest person to have ever served in the Upper House.

Mr. Seaga went on to contribute more than 40 years to active Jamaican politics before stepping down as leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) to take up a position at the University of the West Indies.

Mr. Seaga and his wife Carla will be present at tomorrow's sitting which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
