ST. JOHN'S, Antigua (AP):CARIBBEAN CRICKET officials will hold a two-day meeting this weekend in Barbados to discuss a pending dispute with the regional players' association, among other issues.
West Indies Cricket Board directors will discuss the dispute with the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) over retainer contracts, a collective labour agreement, match tour contracts and a players' code of conduct, the board announced yesterday.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
The agenda for the meeting tomorrow and Sunday also includes a presentation on the latest developments for the 2007 World Cup, which will take place in the West Indies, and a review of the board's financial statements for the first quarter, which ended December 31.
They will also review the international and domestic match schedules for 2005 through 2007, including a report on the status of preparations for the upcoming Digicel Series 2005, in which the West Indies will take on South Africa and Pakistan. The South Africans arrive in the Caribbean on March 25 for a four Test, five one-day series, while the Pakistanis arrive on May 8 to play two test matches and three one-day series.
The meeting includes a discussion on a review of the structure of cricket, commissioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC), and the consideration of a study on the proposed merger of the West Indies Women's Cricket Federation with the cricket board.
