Grand Lido Braco Resort celebrates heritage
published: Sunday | December 12, 2004

What is a party without a conga line? Guests and staff dance the conga line at the Grand Lido Braco's seventh anniversary party held in the hotel square recently.

WESTERN BUREAU:

WHOEVER SAID that we couldn't celebrate Christmas early has clearly never been to an anniversary party at the Grand Lido Braco Resort and Spa in Trelawny.

The festivities of the Christmas season merged seamlessly with Grand Lido Braco's seventh anniversary celebrations held on the property last week Wednesday under the banner of 'Out of Many, One People: Come Celebrate Our Heritage'. Guests were lured from their rooms with the promise of fine cuisine and real Jamaican music in the hotel's village square.

The party kicked off at about 7:00 p.m. with music from the hotel's resident band wafting in the air while guests walked the square savouring anything from rack of lamb to jerk chicken, and that was just the beginning. With every turn of the eye there were delights to be seen. There was an entire table devoted to cheese and bread combinations and another two to chocolate and other cake delights, not to mention the chef who could whip up any fruit plate laced with wine you desired.

There are those who believe that 'anywhere Jamaicans go, dem carry dem belly'. Well, I must tell you that the organisers of this year's anniversary celebration were right on the ball as the dining section ran smoothly into the party-hearty session.

The evening went from warm to piping hot when Jamaican favourites Fab Five entered the stage. Fire was ignited on the dance floor and those who could not hack it had to take a seat when Fab Five began to drop songs such as Every Woman Need A Good Buddy and Ole, Ole.

Despite the cool evening breeze, sweat broke on many faces as guests and staff tried to keep up with the hot songs the band was belting. Songs such as We Feeling Horny, Too Much Sex Neva Kill A Man Yet, and Soca Train were just some of tunes that kept the show boiling hot until about midnight.
