Honouring Seaga
published: Sunday | October 31, 2004

Seaga

KARL SAMUDA, general secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party, said the party intends to honour outgoing leader Edward Seaga "in an appropriate fashion."

"We had hoped we would have been able to, prior to his speaking, present a brief introduction covering his early years through to his present position," the JLP general secretary explained, noting that time did not allow the party to do so. Many JLP insiders feel that the leadership race is overshadowing a proper send off for the retiring party leader.

Mr. Seaga is expected to address the public session of the JLP conference next Sunday.

"We plan to honour Mr. Seaga by an appropriate documentary of his life's work, both from the party's position and the country, how he has impacted on the country," Mr. Samuda said. "That will be done early in the life of the next administration."
