Pickersgill requests Purdy Report
published: Sunday | October 31, 2004

Pickersgill

TRANSPORT AND Works Minister, Robert Pickersgill, wants a written report on United States police adviser David Purdy's allegations of sabotage at the country's ports of entry.

Mr. Pickersgill believes this will assist him in determining whether there were any truths to the statements.

He, however, said he was not overly worried about the effectiveness of ionscan drug machines.

"I have no reason to be unduly concerned based on the verbal reports I got," he said.

In an interview with The Sunday Gleaner last week, Mr. Purdy said the ionscan machines occasionally malfunctioned deliberately. He added there were some employees using the machines who were not monitored or held accountable.
