Editorial - The employment crisis
JAMAICA IS not producing the number of appropriately trained workers to fill the jobs which are on offer. Employers are experien-cing a shortage of suitably skilled workers, the Gleaner Editors' Forum in Montego Bay on Thursday was told.

Too much complaining: Time for a paradigm shift in education
WITH THE recent publication of the results of the CXC examinations, another dismal picture is painted of the poor performance in English and Mathematics. For too long, the problem has been identified, broadcast, and lamented but no solution.


No time for PMs to be miserly
MATTERS OF legality and finance vanish in the twinkling of an eye when some people are in a blind panic. Dem tun fool. In prime ministers this must surely be an unlucky trait.


Preparing for the expected!
AS OUR country struggles to overcome the effect of Hurricane Ivan, it is appropriate that we evaluate how well, as a people we were prepared for the eventualities.
