Disheartening
published: Sunday | September 19, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT WAS disheartening for myself and the other eight Jamaicans here in Newfoundland when Ivan hit. Being here away from home on this Jamaica/ Canada youth exchange programme we felt uneasy not knowing how our families were. We sincerely hope that relief efforts are soon up and that the schools can re-open soon. Our prayers are with the other families back in Jamaica who got hit.

As a group we support each other especially the ones whose families were affected severely. I check this web page every day and report to the rest what is happening and the latest developmental efforts. We miss home now even more but are adapting quite beautifully to the new surroundings. We are settled here and are shining as illuninators to represent, not just national youth service but also Jamaica on a whole.

See oonu lata and God bless. Oh, by the way we cooold! See you in December.

I am, etc.,
