THE EDITOR, Sir:
MISS LOU'S visit to Jamaica last year was a joyful event for everyone. Never had this country seen such a warm outpouring of love as was witnessed at the Emancipation Park concert in her honour. But since then it seems we have ignored her. Her birthday is coming up on September 7, and I think the Government should try to make it an especially happy occasion.
Specifically I am calling on Prime Minister Patterson to:
(a) Name the Old Harbour Bypass after her.
(b)Give her a home in Jamaica that she can visit whenever she wishes to.
No one in the history of this country has made more people happy than Louise Bennett. We should be doing more as a country to show our appreciation of this great lady and all she has done to uplift our spirits.
I am, etc.,
