Proud to be Jamaican
published: Tuesday | August 31, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WATCHED with pleasure and admiration as Jamaican athletes graced the world stage and did their best to prove to the world that although we are a small country we are talented and full of potential.

I felt proud and I believe that Jamaicans, wherever we are in the world, we should be ambassadors for our country and try to re-write the course of history that seems to portray us as the haven of drug pushers, gunners and riot-lovers.

I am proud to be Jamaican and in my corner of the United Kingdom I will continue to lift my country high and prove to the world we are more than wood and water. Eternal Father bless Jamaica, land we love.

I am, etc.,
