Thank you, Eddie Seaga
published: Friday | July 16, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN A few months we will see the demise of one of the greatest Prime Ministers Jamaica has ever known Edward Seaga.

Here is a man who changed the face of Kingston's waterfront; changed Ocho Rios from a fishing village to the envy of most Jamaicans; made Montego Bay into something civilised and then came the greatest master-stroke of them all, the formation of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC).

The UDC has served us unbelievable well. Fortunately, he had working for him the glorious Gloria Knight and had inputs from the Matalon Group and now the indomitable Dr. Vin Lawrence.

Has any Member of Parliament done for his or her constituency what Edward Seaga has done for West Kingston in the length and breath of Jamaica?

Thank you, Eddie. Gratitude is a virtue most deified and yet most deserted. It is the ornament of rhetoric and the libel of practical life.

I am, etc.,

RAYMOND GOLDSMITH
